Emergency doctor Rike fulfills her dream and sails alone in a yacht across the Atlantic towards Ascension Island. Awarded the German Film Prize in three categories. Following in the footsteps of Charles Darwin, she wants to enjoy peace and solitude. After a stormy night, she comes across an overloaded, damaged fishing boat on her way, about to sink. As she has learned to do as a sailor, Rike reports the incident and requests assistance by radio. But after her request, no rescue workers arrive, and if she doesn't do something herself, many people could drown. "Not only because I incredibly enjoy following Susanne Wolff in each of her roles, but also because I am fascinated by the genre here as well, I am strongly connected to this film. When films force their audience to think, I'm in the right movie anyway. STYX manages to do that in such an incredibly undogmatic way, from my point of view. Also, this ocean chamber play is sadly more timely than ever."
