Director Charlène Favier deals with her own experiences of abuse as a young junior athlete in this compelling and haunting drama. 15-year-old Lyz has just been accepted at a prestigious ski school in the French Alps. Her coach is himself a former top athlete who seems to do everything for his new discovery. Thanks to his support, Lyz wins her first qualifying races for the Olympics, but quickly falls under his absolute control with unforeseeable consequences. In SLALOM, Favier, who competed in skiing herself until she was 16, processed her own experiences of sexual abuse that she experienced as a teenager. "I wanted to show that in the world of sports, it's very easy to move toward the sexuality of the body because the body is constantly on display, like a performance object.
